  Burning Instructions

Caution: Failure to follow instructions could result in fire hazard, injury or smoke damage.  

Initial or Memory Burn:

Before you light and enjoy your Soul~Mates Soy Candle,  DO NOT TRIM YOUR WICK to less than ABOUT  1/2 " when you initially light your Soy Candle.    I recommend that you burn your Soy Candle so that the whole top of your product is liquid AND THEN TRIM YOUR WICK a bit more as needed, keeping the wick no less than approximately  1/4 to 1/2 " otherwise your candle will have a difficult time burning.  Soy wax burns at a lower temperature than regular wax and needs a larger wick.  

Each time you light your Soy Candle, ensure you the whole top of your candle becomes liquid  as each subsequent burn will  then liquefy all around beautifully!  Each of our burn times are an approximation as each fragrance oil may affect  the burn time of your candle slightly. 

 Our wicks are hand cut to fit each of our candles and are 100% pure cotton paper core and contain NO lead  to keep the wick straight.   As our candle burns, the wick  will exprience what is called "mushroom".  these are the natural cotton fibres which have already burned and will need to be cut off.  This "mushroom" will cause the wick to lean to one side or the other, BECAUSE,  it is 100% pure cotton.  After you trim your wick, gently sway the wick back to the centre to continue an even burn.    Soy wax is a PURE OIL product and NOT regular wax. Soy wax does not burn off with the flame, rather is heated as the flame burns and evaporates.  Therefore it's not the flame that burns off the scent, it's the heat the flame produced that helps the sweet scented aroma of the wax to emit through your home.  

Our Pure Soy Candles are 100% GUARANTEED to burn beautifully if all of the burning instructions are followed.   

 Our candles also experience 'bloom'. This is because we don't add any chemicals to our candles and therefore they will become primitive or rustic in appearance or in simple terms, the votives become less shiny in appearance!

For Containers, Votives, Tea Lights- Burn until wax is liquid to the edge of the container.  Allow the wax to harden before relighting. Burn votives in a tight fitting GLASS holder only. Discontinue use when only ½" of wax remains in the bottom. Never close the lid on a burning candle.  Do not allow the flame to touch the container. Keep the wick centered and Snuff your wick to keep it primed for the next lighting.
